AI model photos for Amazon, labelled the way Amazon asks

Since 6 June 2026 Amazon has required sellers to tag photorealistic AI-generated people in listing images and A+ content. The rule arrived after New York passed a law on synthetic performers in advertising.

Most tools in this category hand you a clean JPEG and leave that part to you — which means opening a metadata editor and writing the keyword in by hand, per image.

What Amazon actually asks for

The tag is a keyword in the image's metadata, not a watermark on the picture: contains-synthetic-performer in the dc:subject (XMP) field, added before you upload.

It applies when a photorealistic person in the frame was generated. It is not asked for when the image shows a real person — even if AI tools were used to edit it — when there is no person at all, or when the figure is plainly not photorealistic.

Our frames already carry it. Every shot with a generated person leaves here with contains-synthetic-performer in dc:subject, alongside DigitalSourceType = trainedAlgorithmicMedia, written into the file itself — JPEG, PNG and MP4. Product-only shots, where nobody is in the frame, carry the source-type marker and not the performer keyword, because that is what the rule says.

Being straight about the boundary: we write the metadata, and we keep it correct. Whether your listing as a whole complies is still yours — marketplaces word these rules differently and keep changing them, so check what applies where you actually list. What we remove is the part that is tedious and easy to forget on the two-hundredth image.

And the reason you came looking in the first place

The labelling is the compliance half. The useful half is that you can put your product on a model at all, from the photo you already have — and that it is the same model on every product, rather than a new stranger each time you generate one.

On a marketplace where your listing sits next to nine competitors in a grid, a set of images that clearly belong together is doing quiet work for you.

What it costs

A shot is 5 credits. New accounts start with 50 credits free, about 10 shots.

Questions

Do I still have to do anything myself?

Check the current rules for every marketplace you list on, and add any visible disclosure that marketplace asks for. The machine-readable metadata is already in the file when you download it.

Does the tag survive editing?

Not automatically. Most editors rewrite the file and drop the metadata, so add the tag back or re-download from us after editing.

What about product shots with no person?

Those get the source-type marker and not the synthetic-performer keyword, which is what the rule asks for.

Do I need a Shopify or Amazon app?

No. You upload a photo and download the result.

Try it on one product

One photo, no card, no account. Download the result and open its metadata if you want to check the tag yourself.
