An honest look

Product photos without a photoshoot

A model shoot for a small apparel shop runs somewhere between $400 and $2,500 and takes one to three weeks. We have watched sellers be quoted $1,700 for a remote studio day and $3,300 all-in for a local one.

That is affordable once. It is not affordable every time a new colourway arrives — and a new colourway arriving is the actual rhythm of a small shop.

This page is the honest version of the trade-off, including the parts that do not favour us.

What this replaces, and what it does not

Replaces well

  • The tenth colourway of a piece you already photographed once
  • The back view you never shot
  • The item that arrived after the shoot was over
  • A catalogue where every listing currently shows a mannequin
  • A collection page that needs to look like one shop, not thirty

Does not replace

  • Campaign imagery, where the whole point is a real person in a real place
  • A fit guarantee — a frame shows silhouette and cut, your size chart does the rest

What it costs

A shot is 5 credits. New accounts get 50 credits free, about 10 shots, and the first model costs nothing.

Put next to a studio day: one $1,700 shoot is roughly a year of Pro. One-off credit packs exist as well, and if new items arrive rarely, a pack is the honest recommendation rather than a subscription.

The part people get wrong

The mistake is treating this as "one nice picture". One picture is easy, and free elsewhere. What is hard — and what a shoot normally buys you — is consistency: the same person, the same light, across everything you sell.

That is the thing to judge a tool on. Not its best single output, which every tool can produce, but its tenth output next to its first.

How to test it properly

  1. Pick your three hardest items, not your easiest.
  2. Look at the result next to the real product, in daylight.
  3. Ask one question: would you put this on the listing yourself?

If the answer is no, you have lost nothing — which is exactly why the free tier exists. A tool that only looks good on its own demo photos is not worth a month of your time.

Questions

Do I need to install anything?

No. You upload a photo and download the result.

Do I need a card to try?

No. New accounts start with 50 free credits, about 10 shots.

Is the output marked as AI?

Yes, in the file. The EU AI Act and Amazon's rules ask for it, and it is easier to have it from the start.

Who owns the images?

You do.

Test it on the piece you expect it to fail

That is the only test worth running, and it costs nothing.
